Ritetack Xtra vs Sikaflex 118

Which High-Tack Adhesive Makes More Sense?

Ritetack Xtra and Sikaflex 118 Extreme Grab are both serious high-tack construction adhesives. On paper, they sit in a similar performance category. In practice, Ritetack Xtra stands out for being the simpler, easier-to-specify option.

Sikaflex 118 is clearly a capable product. It is made for internal and external use, offers very high initial grab, and is suitable for a broad range of construction materials including concrete, masonry, stone, wood, metals and glass. For many users, it will do the job well.

Ritetack Xtra competes strongly in the same space, but with a cleaner site story. Its hybrid formulation is non-staining, almost odourless and free from isocyanates, phthalates, solvents and silicones. It offers 2.20 N/mm² tensile strength, 400% elongation at break, a 10-minute skin time, and temperature resistance from -40°C to +90°C. Just as importantly, its TDS states that support during curing is usually unnecessary due to its high initial strength.

That matters because Sikaflex 118 also carries more application caveats. Its TDS says mechanical fixings should always be used for overhead applications or heavy items, temporary support is required for very heavy components, and natural stone use should be checked with technical service. Surface preparation can also involve primers depending on substrate type.

So while Sikaflex 118 is strong and versatile, it asks the installer to think a bit harder. Ritetack Xtra is the product for buyers who want excellent grab, reliable performance and a simpler decision path. For Australian trades and fitout teams, that ease of choice is a genuine advantage.

If you want a high-performance adhesive without adding unnecessary complexity to the job, Ritetack Xtra is the smarter pick.
